Foundation Updates: October 2024

Updated: 5 days ago

October was a month of impactful efforts and meaningful connections for The Black Feather Foundation, as the organization continued its mission to support those in need. From disaster response to community-building events, the team worked to make a lasting difference.

Hurricane Milton Response Efforts The Black Feather Foundation’s volunteer network came together to assist communities impacted by Hurricane Milton.

A dedicated team of 52 volunteers collaborated on logistics, planning, and direct aid. In partnership with partner organizations, a 100% volunteer veteran team, assistance was provided in the Tampa Bay area to those affected by the storm. Notably, the foundation was able to arrange for the removal of a large tree from an Air Force veteran’s vehicle and yard, ensuring her safety and restoring access to her home.

Building Connections at AUSA in Washington D.C.

Justin and Hank from DO GOOD/Three Beards connected with friends and new contacts at the AUSA event on behalf of The Black Feather Foundation, sharing our mission and building valuable relationships. They also hosted a special concert at The Renegade in Arlington, VA, helping raise awareness and strengthen support for our work.

Day To Play

Day to Play Brings Joy to Refugee Families The Day to Play event on October 26 was a resounding success. Coordinated with the help of partners, the event welcomed over 160 attendees, offering a day filled with sports, food, and community-building activities. RSVPs were seamlessly managed, and all catering was enjoyed. The event was a powerful reminder of how moments of joy and connection can make a real difference for refugee families.

Strengthening Relationships

Strengthening relationships in New York Later in the month, one of our team members traveled to New York to share updates on the organization’s mission and ongoing initiatives. This was an opportunity to build relationships with leaders who expressed optimism and strong support for the foundation’s work. We also continued to build strong relationships with businesses and organizations as well as with those we serve in the DMV area.

Social Media Engagement

Engaging Through Social Media Throughout October, new graphics and stories were shared on social media, showcasing the inspiring work of the foundation and the families served. These posts continue to raise awareness and connect with supporters who make our work possible.
